Environmental Monitoring – Requirement And Benefits

Environmental monitoring is used for characterizing the quality of the environment and monitoring it. Gauging the trend in the environment parameters and the actual status of the environment is what is the environmental monitoring systems are designed for. Environmental monitoring includes measuring the properties physical as well as chemical of air, water and soil. Even plants and animals are sometimes tested under environmental monitoring.

In the process of environmental monitoring the number of species in a given region is counted after a survey of the same. The samples are also collected and then in the laboratory using instruments like spectrophotometers, chromatographs etc their analysis is done. Environmental analysis is useful for making effective conservation plans and future management of the environment because using environmental measurement and environmental monitoring the environmental behavior over time and space as well can be determined.
